YILMAZ HOUSE ZORLU CENTER
In the project aimed at a "simple, serene, and comfortable" residence where the homeowner, who predominantly lives abroad, can live comfortably alone and host guests from time to time, the preferences of the homeowner, as well as the requests of his sister, who wanted us to complete the house as a New Year's surprise for his younger brother, guided the design.
The apartment in Zorlu Center, with a sea and city view, consisted of 2+1 rooms within 120 m². While the entire apartment was decorated in a way that the homeowner could unpack and start living immediately, the kitchen connected to the living room and the two bathrooms were redesigned according to the new decoration concept, achieving color harmony with the changed wallpapers.
A masculine design was created for the living room; simple and comfortable seating units were specially designed and manufactured. Although striking colors such as navy blue, gray, and brown were chosen, their soft and non-tiring tones were preferred. A mirror was used on the wall separating the kitchen behind the dining table from the living room, both emphasizing the depth of the space and adding sparkle and elegance by utilizing dim reflections since ostentatious accessories were not preferred. To achieve lighting that would not disturb the homeowner, who does not like very bright environments, ceiling spotlights, localized floor lighting elements, and LED lighting were used in niches beside the bed or under the TV base to create beams of light. Only in the living room, above the dining table, a pendant chandelier was chosen to add a slight shimmer to the space. In the homeowner’s bedroom, gray, black, and anthracite colors were used to meet the expectation of low light while improving sleep quality. The headboard wall was covered with wood paneling, and a niche to be used as a bookshelf was created; since the homeowner had limited living space in the house, only a small area was allocated for the dressing room.
